ECONOMOC LEVERS. A TOOL TO SAVE THE SHRINKING ECONOMY Essay

ECONOMOC LEVERS. A TOOL TO SAVE THE SHRINKING ECONOMY - Essay Example Adam Smith represents classical, Alfred Marshal represents the neo-classical school of thoughts and the moderns are represented by Lionel Robbins. Adam smith (1723-1790) who is known as a father of economics, in his work "An enquiry into the causes and nature of wealth of nations" defined economics first time in 1776. He, defining economics said that: The above mentioned book of Smith has been divided into four parts; Consumption, production, exchange and distribution of wealth. He came up with an opinion that the wealth, goods and services are produced in every country in accordance with the laws. Concerning the exchange and with regard to distribution of wealth, he developed some laws for mutual exchange and with regard to distribution of wealth. The concept of wealth given by Smith was misinterpreted as well as misunderstood therefore, Ruskin and Carlyle, the renowned social reformers of their own time, declared economics a dismal (negative) branch of knowledge. They said that Smith's definition motivates the people for "wealth worship and make them selfish". Wealth is the mean to reach the end not the end in itself. After the criticism of Ruskin and Carlyle on Smith's theory Alfred Marshall came into play and rectifying many faults and defined economics in a different way. He said: "Economy is the study of man's action in the ordinary business of life. It enquires, how does he get his income and how does he use it. More precisely, "Economics tells how to earn money and how to consume it" (Heather, 2000) Prof. Robbins developed a new definition of economics. As per him: "Economics is the study of human behavior as a relationship between ends and scarce means which have alternative uses". There are three pillars of Robin's theory which help it to sustain and be considered. These pillars are mentioned below. Wants are unlimited and so they compel us to select very urgent wants for having maximum satisfaction. The means, to satisfy these unlimited wants, are limited and create the problem of scarcity. As the means can be used alternatively, a new problem of choice is created. Let's understand this concept with an example: suppose a buyer reaches the market with limited money in his pocket to purchase, then he faces the problem of choice. In other words, he has to take a decision what to purchase and what not to (Harvey 1996) Economic Levers There are a number of economic levers which can be used to keep the economy back on track. We will discuss some of them and analyze that how it helps to aid the economy (Alois & Perelman, 1994). 1. Deflation 2. Devaluation 3. Price Trend 4. Nationalization 5. Liquidity Preference 6. Fiscal policy 7. Rate of interest 8. Employment rate 9. Global Trade. 1. Deflation: When a decrease in the prices of the commodities and goods occur then we can

War Letters Essay Example for Free

War Letters Essay The war letters, written in different years, not only revealed different emotions of the writers but also gave some hints of what circumstances and danger, they were facing during those times. These letters also expressed their dreams, motivations, purposes, beliefs and the things that they stand or fight for. The war letters, no matter in what time frames they were written, possess many themes in common such as: love, longing, pride, anxiety, hope and encouragement. Also, the people who wrote the letters were really proud and were always willing to sacrifice their lives for the country. They have been serving their country with honor, pride and dignity from the past up to present. However, still each letter is different from one another. They express different degrees of patriotism, affection, and different beliefs or stands and purpose. First, we will cite the similarities among the letters, their common themes and emotions expressed. Afterwards, we will differentiate each letter from one another in terms of their degrees in expression of patriotism, affection and other ideas. Lastly, we will compare three examples of war letters from the War on Terror. The letters were written by the family to the men in uniform who were deployed to certain places to engage with military activities to protect their nation and those written by the soldiers themselves for their family whom they have left, shared common themes. Affection, hope and love are the most common subject that these letters have (Gilderlehrman. org, 2006). The letters usually start with the lines about missing and longing for each other. These are one of the major conflicts and problems that they all deal with. Like what was said from the letter from Tonya Stives to his husband Army Master Sgt. Rahamon Phillips who has been in uniform for 16 years: â€Å"I just can’t figure out how not to miss you every day, all day. Nothing can prepare me for not missing you (militarycity. com). † The letters were also full of inspiring words and that expressing affection. They encourage and boost the self-esteem of the officers by telling them how proud they are of the soldiers. For example, Harman wrote a letter to his Uncle Albert to praise the bravery and dedication of his cousin, Thomas Garber during the Civil war on September 17, 1862 (virginia. edu). The messages from the family to the soldiers often made use of the term â€Å"hero† to refer to the recipients. Furthermore, they put more importance on the military work and duty than on their desire to be together. The family gave their full support for the soldiers. Moreover, all of them were martyrs who took the sacrifices optimistically. The families want the soldiers to stay safe and focus on their missions. Also, they thought and look at this separation in a positive way. For instance, they looked at it as a way to strengthen their relationship. The family who wrote the letters chose their words properly as not to hurt the feelings and not to make the soldiers worry in any case. Like for example, one of the letters from Holly to her husband Army Staff Sgt. Edward Nicorvo, described the disadvantages of not having her husband in their home but in a lighter way just as to put some humor on the letter (militarycity. com). The feeling of anxiety by the families left behind was never gone in the letters. They are always worried for their beloved heroes because they don’t have any idea to where he or she is right now and under what situations. Furthermore, of course, the letters won’t end without expressing the excitement for the return of the officer. The other common purposes of the war letters are: to reminisce over moments together or moments right before they parted ways; to show that the recipient is remembered and to provide comfort; to assure him or her that he is not alone in that fight and that their prayers are always with him. We can observe in the letters in some aspects that time stands still. The year or decades when the letters were written were irrelevant upon looking at the basic messages of the letters. From the past up to the recent wars in America, the letters still revolved around the basic themes and still have the purposes stated above. They all expressed patriotism. The family expressed it in the way of showing support and understanding the soldiers in this fight. The soldiers, on the other hand, willingly sacrifice their time with their families and their very own lives. This reflects on the letter of Sullivan Balou to his wife expressing his fear about death and how he might not be able to spend time with their sons (civil-war. net). The soldiers have a common goal: They all fight to protect the freedom of the future generation. This is a very interesting passage which illustrates this: â€Å"I listened to an audio book on the way here, â€Å"No End Save Victory,† a collection of letters and stories from WW II. It got me thinking that this situation, and the people in it, is not that much different. They were citizen-soldiers, too. They didn’t want to leave home, but they did. They lived under difficult situations. But they felt a sense of obligation, of duty, so they did the job they had to do. And got it done. Then they went back to their homes and their lives. And built the world we live in today. The same thing is going to happen here. We’re not so different (Sandy D. , a mobilized Air Force Reserve officer from Lubbock, Texas,). † The letters, although alike in many ways, still have differed from each other. First, they differ in the intensity of affection. When the recipient and the sender have been together for quite a long period of time, the letters have less affectionate words. They focus on updating the one deployed. Maybe this is because they are used of the separation. They also differ on the passion of the men in uniform to serve their country. Some soldiers’ letter expressed less patriotic thoughts and focused more on the comforts that they missed at home. While some letters revealed many enthusiasms in serving the country. For example, is a letter from General Riedesel to his wife written in 1776 (Louise et al, 1867). He believed that God has placed him in his present calling. Second, only some of the letters have great sense of hope. Like that one written by Sgt. Gary Teal recently deployed to Kandahar, Afghanistan (militarycity. com). Some of the letters are not fully patriotic and are more concerned with themselves and personal worries: â€Å"How do I steel myself against the uncertainty that each day brings? How do I ensure that, when I fall asleep, sweet dreams of my loving wife await me instead of the conflict raging around me? How do I fill the hole in my heart caused by not being there to watch my son grow and experience the wonders of life? How do I pass to my son the values of honor and selfless service you gave me? (Army Capt. Clark C. Hatch for his father)† Next, only some of the letters stated affirmative words about the troop they have been working together. How wonderful the people they are with and what great family they have built together. I also noticed that gender role somehow, evolved from the 1860’s in comparison to the present. Before, male soldiers are more prominent and common. There were rarely or almost no female participants in the war. Like what we can see in the letters written by Thomas Lucas and family during the civil war (Sauerburger and Bayard, 2007). Nevertheless, six years ago (in 2003), there were many women in uniform deployed to Afghanistan and many participated in the Operation Enduring Freedom. Like the three daughters of Laurie Pocsi, a single mom and certified public accountant in Wayne, N. J (militarycity. com). Those are some of the similarities and differences of the war letters from different years. Now, I have read three different war letters during the War on terror or War on Terrorism (militarycity. com). One is from Marine Sgt. Tony Watkins who deployed in early November 2001 for Operation Enduring Freedom. The next one is from Marine Corps Reserve Lt. Col. Tom D. Barna for his son. Moreover, the last letter was from Lance Cpl. Joshua Phillips, who was based in Kandahar, Afghanistan, during Operation Enduring Freedom, for his family. These three letters have similarities and differences as well. They are similar to each other and to the other letters before if we are to consider the main message and common themes implied in the letters. These letters stated some things about longing for loved ones, affection, patriotism and updates. They differ in the fact that some letters are more dramatic and expressed love of the country more convincingly. Also, they differ on their implied purposes of fighting against the terrorists. As illustrations let me share some of the significant lines from the three letters. This one is from Tony Watkins: â€Å"The emotions of seeing this large symbol of what we are here for was almost more than I could hold down. This flag made of simple cloth re-emphasized to all who saw it that they were here in this desert hole for a reason. Not to exact revenge but to enforce justice (militarycity. com). † We can see here the deep desire of Tony to enforce justice. To seek for those who were responsible for the September 11 attack. Maybe his driving force is the thousands of lives that were lost from the attacks of the terrorists. This second letter was from Tom for his son: â€Å"I will be honest with you: Nothing in my life is greater than serving the Corps, God and country. Even so, I am here for another reason, too — a reason that personally motivates me. I am here so you won’t one day have to come back and finish something we didn’t take care of here and now. † Now we witnessed here a more personal purpose of the father fighting in the war. The third letter from Joshua was just a typical letter for his messages for his family. War letters denote some information regarding the social history of the United States (Blight, 2002). From the past decades up to the present moment, we can see that American citizens haven’t changed that much especially when it comes to patriotism. They are still all the ever protective and ever willing to sacrifice their lives for the sake of future generations. We are all still united. The soldiers didnt fight alone; they have their family behind them making them stronger. This sense of unity was born before and is still living up to these days.I believe that this will continue up to the future. References: Blight, B. W. (2002). Cosmetic Surgery: Risky and Unnecessary Surgery Essay -- plastic surge

Is cosmetic or plastic surgery helpful, or damaging to an individual’s mind and body? The two main branches of plastic surgery are reconstructive and cosmetic (â€Å"Plastic Surgery Addicts†). This is the reason why the terms cosmetic and plastic are used interchangeably in the medical field. Some people may think that all surgery is the same, although cosmetic and reconstructive surgeries are not identical. The difference is that reconstructive surgery is used to fix parts of the body that are damaged (Lee). Cosmetic surgery is used in removing, altering or rearranging tissues of the body (Lee). The word plastic does not actually refer to real plastic. â€Å"Plastic surgery† comes from the Greek word â€Å"plastikos†, which means to shape or mold (Olesen 10). The significant issues of cosmetic surgery, such as self-esteem problems, surgeons making mistakes, risks and people becoming addicted make me believe that it is unnecessary. There is a one in 250,000 chance of dying when going under the knife, but why risk going under for cosmetic surgery at all? (Olesen 50).Plastic surgery is not something that has just been recently developed. It has been around since as far back as 800 B.C. in India (â€Å"Cosmetic†). As one of the punishments, people’s noses were removed. Surgeons would try to repair them to the best of their ability. War also played a large role in plastic surgery. This was considered reconstructive surgery because soldiers who had it done were usually severely hurt in battle. Cosmetic surgery became more modern and well known in the 1960’s and 70’s (â€Å"Health Questions†). Cosmetic surgery is sure to expand its influence in the future as technology continues to improve. There are many reasons why patients have low self-esteem and assum... ...y." World Book Advanced. World Book, 2010. Print. Matthews, Sarah. "Addicted to Plastic Surgery: The Facts." The Debt: An Economic Catastrophe Essays -- essays research papers fc

The Debt: An Economic Catastrophe Few national economic issues have generated the same kind of concern as has the federal debt problem of Canada. There is a pressing need for long-term policies to lift Canada out of the national debt hole it is in. Eliminating the debt will not only free up money being spent on interest and reduce taxes, but make Canada a more feasible place for future generations to live and work. Interest on the debt has eroded the government's ability to fund its own operations and essential social services. Presently, thirty-five cents of every tax dollar the federal government raises is used for interest payments alone on the debt. Though there have been operating surpluses within the federal government, they have been eaten up by the debt interest payments. Few people understand the devastating effects of compound interest. The debt, at a compound rate of 10%, doubles in seven years, quadruples in fourteen years, and is eight times as much in twenty-one years. This creates great difficulty for governments to slow the debt, much less eliminate it. Our federal debt grows all by itself to the tune of approximately ninety million dollars every day. This may seem hard to digest, but it is reality. The need for debt elimination is vital if Canada wants to free up billions of dollars being spend on interest payments. Two approaches may be taken to this. First, an increase in government revenues through higher taxation may be considered. However, taxes are a...

Nigeria Oil Crisis Essay

Fariha Ahsan, period 5 This article displays a vivid picture for us about the conditions in Nigeria due to the oil reserves. Though Nigeria contained the potential to strive and become a wealthy oil nation, leaving the cocoon of poverty encompassing Africa- it became trapped in a lot of corrupt dealings. Today, the Niger Delta in Nigeria has caught the attention of world wide humanitarian and environmental activists. The article states how in the past, the corrupt government ruling Nigeria was funded by Western governments and large oil corporations. Together, the group have benefited from the fossil fuels that are in abundant supply in the delta region. However, the mines are not the only things that are in this area, there are people of the Niger Delta who have been harshly affected for decades due to this illegal mining. The Ogoni, Ijaw and other minority groups of the Niger Delta have been stripped away of their environment and basic human rights. Their non-violent protests have been ignored and harshly cracked down by the money-hungry government. For example, during one non violent protest, Shell paid several community members to break off the protesting group. The Human Rights Watch has sided with the people of the delta, as it is clearly visible how the oil mining has ruined the area. The oil corporations have destroyed the chances of neighboring communities and minorities to form. Money to control the environmental pollution has been insufficient, causing extremely- harsh living condition with scarce drinking water, and abundance of malnourishment and disease. The oil mining has destroyed the land of the Nigerian Delta as well as the homes of many living there. After the delta started receiving world wide attention some change has begun to start, but the previous government has left behind much chaos. It is reported that in the last decade, the military took control of the region’s people, burned homes and killed masses of civilians. The present government has attempted on being more democratic and open, so change is still underway.

Burger King Franchising in Saudi Arabia Essay Example

Burger King Franchising in Saudi Arabia Essay Example Burger King Franchising in Saudi Arabia Essay Burger King Franchising in Saudi Arabia Essay Burger King Franchising in Saudi Arabia Name: Course: Lecturer: Institution: Date: Burger King Franchising in Saudi Arabia Introduction Franchising has becoming a lucrative business in Saudi Arabia. Since its inception in Saudi Arabia, the success rates are extremely high while the unsuccessful rates are extremely low. As a result, many businesspersons in Saudi Arabia have taken advantage of these opportunities and ventured into this industry. According to statistics, many people in Saudi Arabia are looking for quality goods and services. In this case, the American industries have also taken these opportunities and they have vigorously marketed their products in the Saudi Arabian market. This has resulted to businesspersons franchising using the American companies. One of the most prominent brands commonly franchised in Saudi Arabia due to its fame, quality and advantages is Burger King. Discussion Franchising can be described as when a company decides to use a brand that is common in the market to distribute goods and services to the customers. In this case, the buying company is expected to display all the brands to the company. The employees are expected to wear the company colors if it is the company policy. Moreover, the buying company is expected to follow the policies of the mother company (Olayan Group of Companies, 2012). In case the franchise company needs to introduce a new policy, all the other companies are consulted and are expected to follow. Burger King was founded in Florida, America by Keith and his wife. They were inspired by the McDonald brothers. However, the company has been marred by difficulties all through despite the significant growth that it took all over the years until present. Franchising of Burger king in Saudi Arabia started in 1990, by Olayan Financing Company (Olayan Group of Companies, 2012). The group started opening several Burger King Restaurants where people came to eat. The business continued to boom and currently there are many Burger King Restaurants that are currently opened in Saudi Arabia. In Saudi Arabia, Burger King Restaurants have been opened in the metropolitan areas of Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam. Olayan Group of Companies has introduced other Burger King Restaurant in Makkah, Hofuf and Jubail. This clearly shows that the people of Saudi Arabia embraced the burgers and they are asking for more in the restaurant. This increase in customers has led to the significant growth of the Burger King Restaurants in Saudi Arabia. Additionally, the opening of the new restaurants is a testimony of immense growth of the Burger King Franchise in Saudi Arabia. Recently, the Olayan Company has introduced new products that will suit the Muslim community and will not affect their religion. This new product is referred to as the ‘big king.’ Literally, the burger is huge thus; it is corresponding with the name. The regional Burger King Franchise is promoting the new product using slogans like ‘big king, big taste, more meat and less bread’ (Olayan Group of Companies, 2012). According to the financial data, Olayan Group of Companies Chief Executive Officers indicates that the new product has been embraced by the customers and revenues have increased significantly. According to the Burger King Headquarters, the Saudi Arabian Burger King Franchise has been the most successful franchise internationally. As a result, the management team was awarded with a trip to Miami as their price money. This shows that the Burger King Franchise in Saudi Arabia has had a significant growth in Saudi Arabia more than the other franchises internationally. In this case, Franchise business in Saudi Arabia is booming business for the businesspersons to venture in since the risk rate is low while the success rate is high. The advertising of the Burger King Restaurant in Saudi Arabia is extremely different from the other franchises in other companies. This is because the advertisements must respect the Muslim religion. If not it means that the company is disrespecting the Muslims. This will result the company loosing most of their customers to their competitors. In this case, there is one advertisement that has been developed for the purposes of advertising in Saudi Arabia (Olayan Group of Companies, 2012). It is because of such strategies, the Burger King Restaurant in Saudi Arabia is flourishing. Finally, after Saudi Arabia won the bid to hold world cup, the management of the company has decided to introduce new strategies. These strategies are aimed at attracting potential customers who will come to watch the world cup in Saudi Arabia. In this case, the management has decided to introduce big screen television in the restaurants. This will encourage the hungry funs to watch the world cup while they are eating burger in the Burger king restaurant. This strategies shows Burger King Franchise in Saudi Arabia has potential growth in the near future (Olayan Group of Companies, 2012). Finally, all this success can be attributed to the newly promoted Burger King Franchise Chief Executive Officer Samer Al-Khawashki. He started as the marketing manager in 1993 when Burger King Restaurants were big opened in Saudi Arabia. At this time, the Olayan group Of Companies needed to promote the company so that they could create awareness to potential customers to increase the sales of the company. He took this task and he has promoted the companies name in Saudi Arabia resulting to the significant growth over the past few years (Olayan Group of Companies, 2012). Conclusion Franchising can be described as the process where a company distributes goods and services using another company’s brand name. In this case, it buys the rights from the mother company in order to use the brand. Burger King Franchising is Saudi Arabia has been significantly been growing since its inception. It first started in Riyadh but it has significantly grown creating new stores all over Saudi Arabia. Currently, the franchise is experiencing high revenues and it has a growth potential especially in the world cup season. References Olayan Group of Companies. (2012). Markets and Merchants

Markets and Merchants Markets and Merchants Markets and Merchants By Mark Nichol Market and attendant words, deriving from the Latin verb mercari, meaning â€Å"trade,† are listed and defined in this post. Market, referring to a place where goods are sold, migrated to English through an ancient Germanic language, and by extension it now also pertains to a geographic region or a demographic targeted for selling of certain goods or services, or an opportunity for selling or a supply of or demand for goods or services. As a verb, the word means â€Å"sell† or â€Å"make available for sale.† Mart is a synonym as both a noun and a verb, while a supermarket is specifically a large grocery store. Marketplace is a synonym for market in its various meanings, though it may also refer to competition for dominance among various ideas or ideologies. A marketer is someone involved in promoting or selling a service; the profession is called marketing. Something possessing qualities that make it amenable to being sold, or someone whose qualities will make him or her appealing to employers or the consumer public, is said to be marketable. Aftermarket refers to the system of providing accessories and parts for a product or to a system for reselling a certain type of products, as well as the general market for stocks. A farmers’ market is a place where produce and sometimes homemade foods (and even crafts) are sold informally, while a flea market is where people sell goods informally, including used products but often new and sometimes self-produced manufactured products as well; both are usually held outdoors. The stock market is a system in which trading of securities for investment purposes is conducted. A black market is an informal network of trade of restricted or prohibited goods; occasionally, the phrase may refer to an actual location where such goods are sold. As black-market, the term is a verb referring to buying or selling in the black market. A seller is called a black marketer or black marketeer, and the action is black marketeering. The adjective upmarket means â€Å"appealing to the wealthy† or â€Å"of high quality† (it also serves as an adverb); down-market pertains to low-income consumers or low quality. Mercer, a British English term for a dealer in fine fabrics, also survives as a surname. Mercenary, meaning â€Å"one who serves for wages,† usually refers to a soldier-of-fortune, but as an adjective, in addition to referring to one who enlists in a foreign army or fights for a private client, means â€Å"greedy† or â€Å"venal.† A merchant is a shopkeeper or trader, although occasionally the word serves as slang referring to someone with a particular talent, such as in the phrase â€Å"speed merchant† for a fast sprinter. It also is an adjective pertaining to trading or used as in the phrase â€Å"merchant marine,† which denotes, collectively, the commercial ships of a particular nation or the crew members of these ships. (Merchantman is an obsolete synonym for merchant; it was also used during the Age of Sail to refer to a ship carrying goods for trade.) The adjective mercantile, meanwhile, means â€Å"pertaining to trading,† while merchandise refers to goods that are sold (while a merchandiser is someone who sells goods), and the the word also serves as a verb meaning â€Å"buy and sell† or â€Å"promote.† The act or practice of selling goods is merchandising. Commerce is the large-scale buying and selling, generally involving transportation over long distances (though the word also has rarer senses of â€Å"exchange of ideas and opinions† or sexual intercourse). The adjective is commercial, which also functions as a noun to denote an advertisement using moving images, sound, or both. Online buying and selling is called e-commerce, where the e is an abbreviation for electronic, as in email (sometimes styled e-mail). One word unexpectedly related to mercari is mercy, from the idea of a price paid. Mercy is compassion or leniency, a fortunate occurrence, or a divine blessing. (The term is also sometimes uttered as an oath of pleasure of surprise, as in â€Å"Oh, mercy me!† though it is old-fashioned.) To be merciful is to exhibit compassion or forbearance, and the adverbial form is mercifully; mercy itself occasionally serves as an adjective, as in the phrase â€Å"mercy killing,† referring to killing a person or an animal to end suffering. Another is Mercury, the name of the fleet-footed Roman messenger god, who was also the god of commerce- and travel and, ironically, theft- and that of the planet named for him. The name of the element mercury, which in its liquid form moves very quickly, was also inspired by the swift Roman deity. Want to improve your English in five minutes a day? History of the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles

History of the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles The Soviets, in retaliation for the U.S. boycott of the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow, boycotted the 1984 Olympics. Along with the Soviet Union, 13 other countries boycotted these Games. Despite the boycott, there was a lighthearted and happy feeling at the 1984 Olympic Games (XXIII Olympiad), which were held between July 28 and August 12, 1984. Initially criticized for this decision, it ultimately became a model for future Games. First Corporate Sponsors After the serious economic problems caused by the 1976 Olympics in Montreal, the 1984 Olympic Games saw, for the first time ever, corporate sponsors for the Games. In this first year, the Games had 43 companies who were licensed to sell official Olympic products. Allowing corporate sponsors caused the 1984 Olympic Games to be the first Games to turn a profit ($225 million) since 1932. History of the Olympic Games Term Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words

History of the Olympic Games - Term Paper Example Zeus, an Olympic god, was said to be the father of humanity. Zeus is said to have fought a god known as Cronus in a struggle for the throne with other gods. The demigod, Heracles, staged games in Olympia in honor of Zeus. The games aimed at encouraging good relations among the cities of Greece and showing the physical qualities accomplished by the youth in Greece. The ultimate importance of the games was religion. During the first recorded Olympic Games, a nude runner, by the name Coroebus, won the sole event at the competition. He was a cook from Elis, a town in Greece. He competed in 210 yards or approximately 192 meters and became the first Olympics champion in the history. The ancient Olympic Game events continued to occur every four years for the next 1200 years. In 393, CE, Theodosius I, the Roman emperor, decided to abolish games, claiming they had pagan influences. Emperor Theodosius was a staunch Christian. About 1600 years later, Pierre Coubertin, a young French aristocrat, began to revive the games. Coubertin was born on January 1st, 1863. Coubertin was only seven when Germans overran the French. The period was known as the Franco-Prussian war of 1870. This young French aristocrat witnessed the defeat of French military and he attributed it to a lack of vigor. According to Coubertin, sports were among the motivating factors needed to have France regain its place. He concluded that Americans, Germans and the British did not have any superior education compared to the French. His proposal was not met with much enthusiasm. His persistence to get France interested in sports continued. He planned and founded a sports organization in 1890. The union named USFSA was launched, and two years later he pitched the idea to have the Olympic Games revived (IOC 10). The games mainly featured athletics. Later, chariot racing and combat were introduced as Olympic events. All conflicts occurring during the games were postponed until the events were completed. To many, the origin of the Olympics games is shrouded in mystery. Another myth suggested that the first games occurred in 775 BCE after some inscriptions were found in the city of Olympia. The ancient Olympic Games featured boxing, javelin, running and equestrian events. The myth concurs that Olympic Games had a fundamental religious importance. Another similarity with the earlier myth is that ritual sacrifices were offered in honor of Zeus which was a famous statue. The idol was a divine hero and an alleged god of Olympia. According to the Greek traditions, a four-year period was known as an Olympiad, which was a unit of time. This is said to be the source of Olympics (â€Å"Olympic Movement† 4). The Olympic Games became part of a cycle called Pan-Hellenic games. They included Isthmian, Pythain, and Nemean games. In the 5th and 6th centuries, the Olympics reached what was known as zenith. With the rise of the Roman Empire, the Olympic Games declined in terms of their importance. The Roman Empire gained power and influence over Greece. Emperor Theophilus II ordered the destruction of all Greek templates in 426 CE. This caused the Olympic Games to be officially ended. According to Coubertin, the revival of Olympics was necessary to bring peace and create friendship among nations. He planned and organized a meeting of seventy-nine delegates representing nine countries in just two years. The meeting was held in an auditorium decorated with neoclassical murals. In the

Global banking issues Assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words - 1

Global banking issues - Assignment Example The best example of barter system is that suppose there are two persons, one of them has a goat and the other has a cow and they both want the goods possessed by each other. In such condition the barter system is created so as to get into an agreement for the procedure of goods exchange. However even if the goods are exchanged successfully there would be a time when the goat and cow would die and hence it can be stated that these goods are not able to maintain their initial value over the time. In such a scenario there was evolution of a new concept in the form of money which served as exchange medium (Schwartz 361).This medium was accepted widely by all the traders as it was able to solve the problem that was associated with goods that deteriorated with time. One of the most important functions of money is that it can be considered to be unit of account that facilitates a mechanism through which value can be placed on the services and goods. This is simply because such a function is a standard unit in monetary terms for value measurement on services and goods. For instance when a person goes to a supermarket the monetary value of goods can be observed by the person through the price tags on the goods. There even exists monetary value on services such as when a person goes for a spa and gets the required service the person in return pays money to the concerned individual for the availed service. Thus unit of account as a function of money can be regarded as value measurement for services and goods. The supply of money can be considered as liquid instrument and total stock assets at a particular time and this in turn in an economy of a country is accepted as medium of exchange. The Federal Reserve System takes into control the supply of money in America. The supply of money comprises of three essential components such as the

An experience of jobs as diverse as a doctor, a designer, and a cook would not traditionally constitute of a career. The traditional theme also emphasizes on a career as a profession, which is perceived to belong to a higher socio-economic standard and gives greater independence. As such, lawyers and doctors fall as examples of traditional careers. The limitations of traditional careers, namely downscaling of the workforce by firms, declining mutual loyalty between the employers and the employed and rising job security evolved the nature of careers over the decades that help individuals adjust to the rising uncertainties of the working environment. Most common of this contemporary or modern perspective of careers is boundaryless careers. They operate beyond the hierarchical, social and industrial parameters, and are not linked to a central employment setting, and have a good degree of inter-organizational mobility. This is hence followed by people focusing on a global career. This is in contrast to a traditional career, which is highly immobile and where a single career path and organizational setting has to be adhered to. Also, a modern career requires individuals to be highly self-responsible in their career choices and determine career goals based o personal value, which is contrary to traditional careers where organization determines the career path to be followed. This evolutional in career opportunities mean that I have a wider range of choices available in modern careers with greater autonomy, despite employing the similar skills as could have been applied in a traditional career.

The Education Systems of Lt, the Uk and the Usa. Pre-School and Pre-Primary Education Essay Example for Free

The Education Systems of Lt, the Uk and the Usa. Pre-School and Pre-Primary Education Essay Pre-school and pre-primary education in Lithuania, in the United Kingdom and in the USA have several things in common.. First, both education systems are available in three countries and also pre-school education is not compulsory. There are public and private pre-schools in three countries. Public pre-schools are those which are run by the government. Private pre-schools are those which are run by private organizations, for which parents have to pay fees. Many private pre-schools have a high reputation and parents send their children there so that they will have advantages later in life. There are nursery schools for children from the age of 1 to 3 years in Lithuania. Children from the age of 3 till 6 attend a kindergarten. The number of children in nursery schools is approximately 10 children and approximately 15 children in a kindergarten, whereas the number of children in the USA and in Great Britain is approximately 2-3 little children or 4-5 bigger children plus nursery-governor’s help. Another difference is about security in pre-school institutions. People who come in a kindergarten or nursery school are not registered. By contrast, people who come in a nursery school or a kindergarten are strictly registered in the USA and in Great Britain. Your driving licence or passport is taken and you get permission to be in a pre-school institution. The kindergartens and nursery schools in Lithuania also differs in their cost compared to cost of these pre-schools institutions in the United Kingdom and in the Usa because it is cheaper to let your children to Lithuanian kindergarten than to American or English kindergarten. Differently from Lithuania children under 5 receive pre-school education in Great Britain. Some go to playgroups several times a week and take part in structured play (play with some educational purpose) with other children of the same age. Others go to a nursery school or to the nursery department or kindergarten of a school. Children attend day nurseries until they are 6 months old the same as in Lithuania. Day nurseries take care of children activity, self-expression, security. Nursery-governors take care of children education and upbringing. The emphasis is on group work, creative activity and guided play. Day nurseries are divided into private and community. Fees in the communities are not so big as in the day nurseries. Some of the community nurseries give parents discounts according to their financial position. The working time is very different in day nurseries of Great Britain, for example, local authority pre-schools work until 15 a. m. The other pre-school institutions work from 7 till 19. All kindergartens work all year except public holidays in Great Britain meanwhile not all kindergartens work all year in Lithuania. In the same way, children attend nursery schools, day care or pre-school from an early age in the USA. Children are taught, trained in the nursery schools and in the kindergartens. Nursery-governors play with children. There are some requirements in order that your child would be inducted to kindergarten, for example, it is required children to be toilet trained and your child is not ready for the potty, they may not let him or her attend a kindergarten, but children are not required to be toilet trained in Lithuania. In the USA parents may also have to pay high fees for late pickups and end up having to stay home with their child if the pre-school says she or he is too sick to be there. Another difference is that parents can freely choose which nursery school or kindergarten their child is going to attend in Lithuania, but in the USA all children should go to nursery school or kindergarten according to their living place because there are brought under districts. All children go according to district which he or she belongs to. If parents think that their district’s nursery school or kindergarten is not as good as it should be, parents must change the living place in order that their children could go to a better pre-school institution. Pre-primary education content is similar in three countries. There a wide variety of fun activities – including singing, dancing, arts and crafts, storytelling, free play, and both indoor and outdoor games and projects – designed to teach children different skills. Cildren may also learn some academic basics such as counting and the alphabet. Children in Lithuania start to attend pre-primary institution at the age of 6, but if parents want and their child is grown enough pre-primary institution can be attend at the age of 5, while the majority of children start to attend pre-primary preparation lessons at the age of 2-5 in the United Kingdom. Also the government’s programme which is named â€Å"sureStart† gives the possibility to all children from the age of 3 to 4 to get pre-primary lessons free of charge in a kindergarten. Differently from Lithuania children at the age of 6 start to attend a school in the USA. Taking everything into account, I can note that pre-school and pre-primary education has several things in common in The United Kingdom, in the USA, and in the Lithuania, but on the other hand there are a lot of differencies.

From hierarchy to teamwork leading the change

From hierarchy to teamwork leading the change Introduction: Leadership is an essential issue not only in the business environment, but also in all aspects of the human being life. Leadership is essential whether you are a leader of a team or are a single owner with no one working for you. Successful leadership, in matter of truth is a process of thinking; also, it is a route to make things done. Thriving entrepreneurs of today should possess and give out successful leadership skills. Moreover, managers are adept at maintaining the importance of such firm going on and add safety to the said firms, but unfortunately do not make for successful entrepreneurs. Leaders as well as successful entrepreneurs are good at inspiring peoples emotions, raising their expectations, plus taking them in different directions. However, effective leadership should be given off skills always constantly. Leaders are the ones who make things done. Furthermore, A few outstanding leaders function as having professional will in addition to personal humility. They have the commitment to produce whatever it takes to establish an enduring organization. They bear responsibility for the failures. Furthermore, they act on excellent standards; they are humble, let others responsible for the credit moreover, they are not egotistical. Therefore, most persons do not include the nature or instincts gain the life experiences tog to be a top Leadership, on other words, numerous people may receive the ability to improve themselves as to get leaders that are more powerful. However, it is further believed by many, for the most part that Working in teams is often more impressive than working with the earlier style bureaucratic management. This has been effectively demonstrated by first the Japanese experience, moreover, later in more countries around the world. However, the transition from hierarchy to teamwork requires the analysis and practice of the principles of team style management. Definition of Leadership: Leadership can be defined as the potential to influence more people to achieve things. A leader teaches by example and motivates others to observe their actions. A leader looks for other opportunities and is ready to switch their status quo. A leader has the capacity to reach people feel right about what they are doing and helps people think as the work they are accomplishing is working towards the larger objective of the corporation. On the other hand, a leader challenges someone to look beyond his or her base level of performance and action to their highest potential; they struggle to make the optimum out of their employees. Therefore, a leader is a person who recognizes accomplishment as well as properly rewards for accomplishments. Thus, One of the most fundamental aspects of a leader is they treat mistakes same as learning experiences. Leadership Aspects: Challenge the process: A leader searches for easier, additional effective ways to achieve goals, rather than compromising for the age-old manner of doing something. Moreover, leaders are innovative and testing to discover alternative ways of doing things. Inspiring: Leaders efficiently communicate organizational goals towards employees so people realize what is expected of them. Furthermore, they offer people a valid cause to make their jobs by expressing how valuable their work is plus how it helps the company as a whole. They motivate and energize workers and make them faith to perform their job. Modeling: An effective leader teaches by example. Besides, Leaders work with the highest standards and require others to perform to those standards as well. Additionally, they set forward a high-level application and expect a high-level effort from those around them. Personal Leadership Characteristics: Leader should believe that he personally has many superior leadership characteristics. Such like, he has to be honest, hard working, as well as perceptive. In addition, He tends to lead by example, letting others see how strong he works in addition to the level he holds himself to as an example of the class others should want to work towards as well. Likewise, he tends to remain very adept at recognizing peoples feelings about things. Supplementary, he can often tell if someone does not enjoy doing something and try to assist them discover ways to give it more enjoyable. At the identical time, also we find with the purpose that he is innovative in that he usually looks for the easiest means of doing things. Consequently, if a process is in place along with there is a faster or else more reliable method of generating the identical results he can usually obtain it. As well, he should think that he have a superior ability to analyze problems and follow up with solutions to them. In the addition of that and from the widespread, that he would say that to avoid his weaknesses such as the potential to peer. Besides, he should be good at pointing out problems with something also, then expressing those problems for the person who is responsible. However, he should tend to constantly watch for the best things furthermore skip over the bad ones. Thus, this could lead to other long-term problems for that the reason of the problem areas may go uncorrected. Hierarchy Leadership: Hierarchy is a reality in organizations. While many advocates for flatness in organizations, it is ultimately a comparable term, someone is however in charge. Therefore, the buck stops somewhere, in addition to the buck usually has clear channels it passes through before it stops. This is hierarchy. Thus, think the pyramid. Therefore, in a hierarchical system, a little number exists at the top leadership, and the others are apparently working their way through their careers so they can get to getting higher on the pyramid. Leadership development, therefore, is finding people in the bottom parts of the pyramid and grooming them for slots in the top at either your organization or another. On other words, this means picking star performers and making certain they experience the opportunities to extend their leadership skills. However, we can find with the intention of, in several areas of the pyramid comes into play again. Therefore, Leadership development takes your non-leaders and makes a new pyramid out of them, selecting only the head of the sub-pyramid for development. Therefore, we can certainly get so as to numerous practice it for either or what was mentioned early but as giving people the possibility to develop their horizons, present to the Board, take on different projects, etc. on separate words, it is appropriate to look beyond star performers. For example, if leader said that he barely had occasion to actually focus his mentoring attention on two to three people out of his entire team that might be fine if it is within his pyramid. Furthermore, we can add with the purpose that Introspection is fine, but it still will not enable any more than three or four to get the leaders attention. Thus, you desire to develop mechanisms and structures so more people can see the assistance they require to improve leadership within their present roles. Therefore, and as we mentioned earlier, that Operating exclusively within the pyramid structure inhibits this, but it is not seen that people experimenting outside of this paradigm. Leadership Development Hierarchy: It was developed to assist those we coach understand the connection of self-awareness, authenticity, interpersonal effectiveness, purpose, vision, as well as values to their journey of personal leadership development. Therefore, the hierarchy is a conceptual construct that represents the different stages or levels an individual can go through to develop themselves same as successful plus fulfilled leaders within the context of their values, purpose in addition to personal vision. The construct theorizes that people will be more appropriate as leaders if they first achieve enough of the requirements of a lower level before ascending toward higher levels of the hierarchy. On other words, those of us who have observed leadership development along with studied the research in the direction of emotional intelligence are suggesting that leaders who have the emotional maturity will perform better at the higher levels of task demand in addition to complexity than those who make not include the minor levels satisfied. For example, one will be better able to present an organization vision if they have high self-awareness, authenticity as well as interpersonal effectiveness. The Leadership Development Hierarchy is a model that helps people to view a view of the journey they will experience it as if they develop themselves. Therefore, it also facilitates the participants capacity to better manage their learning experiences. Those of us who design and deliver leadership development programs can utilize the hierarchy to certify in addition to categorize content. We also can combine the scope along with the sequence of our instructional design along with the Leadership Development Hierarchy. There are particular chunks of material in addition to experiences that are used to support our learners work throughout each of the levels of the hierarchy. Therefore, coaches of leaders, our job is to design and facilitate a procedure that allows people to have deep individual experiences that lead to move to self-discovery as well as insight. This includes adapting moreover using teaching methods as closely as tools that will assist people learn to tap into their intellectual in addition to emotional skills to get themselves as successful leaders. Only then are we really helping people on their drive to get a level five leader. Leadership as Teamwork: Developing collaboration crosswise an organization necessitates so as to leaders acquire a systems approach toward projects. Furthermore, that means such organization stares at projects at the previously mentioned time as a system of regular activities to cooperate to perform a known objective. Consequently, the general objective is on the means to compliment the entire strategy of such organization. Frequently, every projects sketch as of one source pool, consequently they interconnect while they contribute to the relative resources. For that reason, the process of said projects is itself a project in general, by means of the little main projects being the actions to lead to the bigger project aim. Therefore, as we can say with the aim of it obviously shows that whichever is deficient in of leadership cooperation resonates all the way throughout such organization. Whether leaders do not model preferred behaviors, there is modest expect with the intention of the rest of such organization preserve do it on behalf of them. Whichever is deficient in of leadership support will certainly be replicated in the completion of project teams, and there is little with the role of project managers alone are able to diagnose the problems to arise. Moreover, as we can investigate further on the above subject that a team impression is a single method used by such organization toward institute a strategic bearing for projects on both sides of organizational boundaries. More commonly than not its position is in the process to give directions, handle numerous projects otherwise a selection of projects, and assist within cross-organizational concern resolution. It is due to the earliest faith with the aim that one example by the side of Such organization was a cross-organizational leadership team pulled in concert in the direction of resolve architectural concerns in favor of a current type of business industry. Nevertheless, Entity project teams were optimizing resolutions on the process to provide their objectives. However, it is further believed by many, for the most part in Individual project manager for the organization such organization obtained the proposal on the track to produce together a leadership team. Besides, the team acknowledged ownership toward resolution at the set of consistent matters. For that reason, It primary recognized a set of key concerns and limits on the direction to indicate the study teams. Additionally, once numerous issues bogged downward, it endorsed an appreciation pathway toward two managers who would pay attention in the direction of the use of views and formulate resolutions. As we can say with the purpose of when it is said so as for the reason that of the incredible collision on top of time-to-market of projects needy on the result. The leadership team kept back appropriate stress on makes steps forward. Later, they paid heed to recommendations commencing an exposition breakdown and took action on recommended enhancements, applying them on the way to following projects that were commenced to determine other issues. Additionally, In excess of time the progression enhanced considerably and showed the path to condensed fretfulness concerning the disorganized condition of the manner. It is outstanding to the most ancient faith with intend of this methodical come within the scope of demonstrate the enormous and serious pressure of leadership collective effort on project achievement. Likewise, gradually more apparent are companies who set up portfolio assortment committees. On the separate hand, within this way leaders and project managers make up the collaborative visualization as a result that essential intended for implementation of strategy for such organization. Consequently, the talented economic and business surroundings engaged the development of an economic structure that is knowledge motivated, it is worldwide, and it is set-up. In addition, it is set-up for the reason that productivity is produced throughout and the contest is controlled approximately a comprehensive network of interface among industry networks. For that reason, these three key features do not signify with the purpose of the talented economic surroundings shows the way towards the junction of economic systems. though, during this circumstance organizational structures distribute crossways systematic situations, make use from every one and other, and produce organizational mixtures so as to communicate to the general outline of business organization and contest, at the same time as adjust in the direction of the exact public background surrounded by which they function. In further words, shape of economic organization is interceded by forebear organizational shapes, systematic structures and cultures of such organization. Thus, this mediation is of elementary worth in the raise of rapidity, or deceleration, of learn progress and events of spread. On the other hand, that distinctiveness preserve comprise ethnicity, race, gender, economic class, physical abilities, sexual orientation, religion, job status, and veteran status. Diffusion of multiculturalism and improved personality right of entry to cultural assortment, through on the other hand, various decrease in variety throughout adjustment, and hybridization. Therefore, at such organization, has originated it mainly thriving to arrange functioning commission strength to assist sketch a strategy meant for continuing multicultural assignment. Additional thriving strategies for ascertain an assortment proposal includes: 1. Spotlighting on the positive features of assortment work; 2. Pulling together and allocating articles and new form of documents which clearly demonstrate the benefits of multiculturalism; 3. In spite of the strategy, you in time come to a choice upon; most people trace it very helpful to widen an idea of the factors, which are arguing organizations to tie in work, so fine the constant return of multicultural change. Diversity: It goes back to the exceptional and particular characteristics with the intention of make a distinction us at the same time as individuals, and recognizes us seeing that be in the right place to such a group. Furthermore, No doubt it is the full interconnection of the markets smooth the progress of by strict redesign that makes the new economy full. Nevertheless, at the central part of such organization, which is utilized the latest technology related mechanism of old economy sort of organizations. Hence the centrality of technology allied economic movement is not correlated to the in the hope of freshly exponential proceeds expansion and market worth of technical firms. As an option, their economic and business result lies as the potentially affected contact for the technique business is carried out. Sustainability: As we can say that a business is sustainable if it has modified its put into practice for the make use of renewable possessions and seizes itself responsible for the environmental contact of its activities. Consequently, this comprises businesses for an organization; to make it possibly will desire to activate in its mode, as well as to defend the environment. In addition, many profit-oriented businesses, like such organization will create a representation of social responsibility throughout a variety of marketing and public relations act; even though this visible figure does not actually indicate with the purpose of, they are sustainable. As we generally disclosed that a business to contain a competitive advantage and maintain the review of time, change is an everyday occasion. Nevertheless, it ought to not be a response; it is a growth to facilitate focuses on preserve a balance inside the same organization, which is such organization, in order to make sure the slow change from one growth to another. Besides, the central part principles and view are deftly entrenched in each act in nature to avoid disorder in the organization. Likewise, the simple route near the logistics of alter management is ingoing to the scene world of business. Team development A team is defined by the necessity for interaction among members of a group. Therefore, the true meaning of interaction, action between, goes to the essence of teamwork. Consequently, the core for some organizations is whether it is needed and to what extends to stress work team operations. Therefore, the nature of the work leads organizations to the answer of the preceding query. Therefore, and as we mentioned earlier at above, that Theory building in addition to empirical research on team development have their roots in social psychology along with group dynamics. Otherwise, it has been dealt explicitly with the issue of team development in terms of empowerment and has distinguished various stages in this development. Therefore, we can certainly get so as to multiple practice it for either or what was mentioned early but as in the primary place, the team should focus on the redundancy of functions. Moreover, qualification matrices are made along with a cross-training program is generated to develop multifunctional and to encourage job expansion in the light of the variety in the request for production capabilities and the distribution of work skills requisite variety. In the upcoming stage, the focusing is on the principle of minimal critical specification, moreover, the redesign of the control structure. Moreover, as we can investigate further on the above subject, as greatly as possible, control objectives are delegated to the team and the focus is on job enrichment. Moreover, in these first two stages, the focus point is on the individual furthermore, there is a shift from conventional to non-routine activities. Furthermore, in the third stage the emphasis is on the self-reliance of the team, on teamwork plus for team-building communication and decision-making. At the identical time, also we find with the purpose of during everyday work the team has to become free of its supervisor. Accordingly, the focus is on teamwork and autonomy. In the previous stage, in line with the principle of double loop learning, the function to explain the non-routine problems is the central concern. For that reason, an ideal area in which this kind of problems always arises is the management of the environment through the team. It is due to the earliest faith with the aim that the activities during the first three stages are chiefly directed inwards, leading to a higher level of empowerment of the team. Additionally, Group boundaries are emphasized beside this will move group members to reinforce group identity. Consequently, Sharp group boundaries always strengthen the group norms and reduce the tolerance for abnormal attitudes and behavior among group members. Thus, this may limit the innovative and innovative capacity of the group, and may reduce its responsiveness toward suppliers and customers, which is an essential reason for empowerment. As we can say with the purpose of when it is said so as to an independent working team might become too inwardly oriented, a tendency that might constrain organizational learning and comprehensive system improvement. On the separate hand, these arguments indicate that team boundaries should be neither too stiff nor too loose. To find the appropriate balance, the concept of boundary management was included in the fourth stage, with the objective of creating teams that are not only autonomous, but also responsive, pro-active as well as innovative. Change and Implementation of Change: Organizational change is a realism of the available world, and to facilitate actuality is not liable to change anytime rapidly. If anything, organizations can wait for toward look the need meant for even more change in the prospect, at a still closer lick. Furthermore, we can add with the purpose of those Organizations encompass to pact with advanced technology and with upgrades for presented technology. Consequently, they comprise to get with reorganizations, practice step up plan, and mergers and acquisitions. In the addition of that and from the widespread of They thrive by mixed any actual resolution that was a fraction of the change mix by a careful and practical as one of the non technical human aspects linked with the change. Therefore, as we can say with the aim of it obviously shows that it suppose Such organization , that thrive at change do so by in view of the people who are affected with, will have to exist with, and are frequently necessary to finishing the change in query. Still better, not only does running the human side of an organizational change scheme assist make sure the successful execution and use of the possible result, it sets the foundation for realized prospect results on the performance of Such organization. Conclusion: On the separate hand, as the times went on, a lot of detailed research has been conducted on the charge In excess of the long run, we consider to promote the organization, so as to pursue a progression alike to the one illustrated amplify their chances for superior accomplishment. Furthermore, this occurs for the point that teams of people following a logical progression and by compelling data to substantiate their arguments more frequently make improved outcome than individuals. Consequently, such project of any organization, enclose further evident, and the importance of words and choice make recover. Additionally, the power of using the criterion that is firmly allied by strategy and recognized with each one in the organization is the justifying result it has to require representation in inventive ways. On the other hand, having progression resources it can be simulated and enhanced over instant awaiting it is optimized. Likewise, it as well many more people can reach out the development and trainer others, thus making knowledge such organization. As we can see obviously that, the demands of the external along with the local environment are opposite to the existing organizational cultures well as style of leadership. Therefore, the importance of those issues is crucial in the success of an enterprise. Consequently, every recent step has to be done according to the existing values, to the existing concepts and if something has to change in the organizational culture that must be done before any further step. However, as the times went on, a lot of important researches had been conducted on the function of the human capital is important and if we are not able to handle correctly, that means a specific failure. As a result, the motivation, the team development and the empowerment define the direction an organization face its employees, leads them. In order to succeed, the consideration to these issues is necessary. However, we can find with the intention of, in several areas of the offered here has noteworthy inference for procedure improvement. as a result, At such business environment, where in such organization , is taking place, environment is constantly methodically implanted; rules, laws, norms and regulations are necessary to construct anticipated business environment of every types among those and the identical organization, which we are talking about, business environment. Furthermore, such organization comprise a critical function to bear role in make sure the circumstances necessary to successful interface among such organization. As we can say with the purpose of when it is said so as to the paramount question is not whether management be supposed to restrict or not; other than, what forms of involvement are likely to be mainly successful in obtainable situations. Conversely, given with the resolution of interference cannot and ought to not be persistent. Likewise, Improvement policy ought to not only focal point on the fundamentals of the scheme, but also on the associations in the midst of these fundamentals. Consequently, this comprises not just the associations surrounded by differing types of organization, but also at such organization. Therefore, we can definitely get so as to numerous practice it for either or what was mentioned early but as Effective leadership has little or nothing to draw with hierarchy along with formal position. Better, soon it will remain whole project based. Therefore, those who excel at being aware, sharing, and pooling knowledge, win. For that reason, once this is a reality, the workplace will be changed forever. I do not mean that once the work project-based for a while it is part of this trend. In fact, a plan now plus there is not be, what this is about it. I envision that over, as we know it will vanish all. Moreover, it will not be needed and will have no function. Instead, a new hierarchy will appear: one solely based on information and networks. As a result, this is a considerably more precarious situation. In effect, a given location can determine who is in charge and hot topic can make an expert surface immediately.

Essay --

In the course of years of stock market study, two quite distinct schools of thought have arisen, two radically different methods of arriving at the answers to the trader’s problem of what and when. In the street jargon, one of these is commonly referred to as the fundamental analysis or statistical, and the other as the technical. The term technical in its application to the stock market has come to have a special meaning. It refers to the study of the action of the market itself as opposed to the study of goods in which the market deals. Technical analysis is the science of recording, usually in graphic form, the actual history of trading (price changes, volumes, and transactions, etc) in a certain stock or in â€Å"the averages† and then deducing from that pictured history the probable future trend. According to Park and Irwin (2007) recent studies indicate that technical trading strategies consistently produce economic profits in a range of speculative markets at lea st until the early 1990s. From a total of 95 recent studies, 56 studies find positive results regarding technical trading strategies, 20 studies obtained negative results, and 19 studies indicate mixed results. In pioneering work, Smidt (1965b) studies amateur traders in US commodity futures markets and finds that more than half of the respondents use charts exclusively or moderately in order to identify trends. Sullivan et al (1999, 2003) and Olson (2004) are among recent studies that have shown that technical trading rules do generate positive economic profits before the 1990s, but the profits are declining markedly or are disappearing altogether as time passes and globalization occurs. Such results may be explained by temporary market inefficiencies in periods before the 1990s. The Economics of Illicit Drugs Essay -- Crime and Drugs

In this essay I will define drug abuse and show the economic impact of the sales of illicit drugs. I will introduce an argument for legalization and the impact to the economy. Next I will discuss some of the economic cost from lack of productivity, health care cost and other cost associated with Drug abuse. In order to understand the economic impact of illicit drugs we must first define what a drug is. A drug is defined as any substance other than food that affects the way your mind or body works. Abuse is defined as the wrong use or misuse of something. So drug abuse would be defined as the wrong use of drugs. As a D.A.R.E. officer, this definition has been ingrained into my mind for the past eighteen years. During my twenty years of Law Enforcement I have learned how dangerous drugs are to the economy. They damage your body and drug abuse also has a huge economic impact on the country. In the United States there are two types of drugs legal and illegal. The legal drugs have two subcategories, prescription and over the counter. Prescription drugs are placed into different categories called schedules. The ones that have a highest chance for abuse or addiction have a higher place in the schedule. Schedule I drugs are the drugs that have no safe or accepted medical use in the United States. Examples are heroin, marijuana, LSD, PCP, and crack cocaine. As you go down the schedule the drugs become less addictive and have a small potential for abuse, but are still controlled by the Drug Enforcement Agency. Schedule V are the lowest controlled drugs. Examples are codeine, valium and xanax Non prescription drugs are those that are sold over the counter and you do not need a prescription to purchase. The illegal o... ...0,000,000 on the health care, productivity and other cost, yet in the same time period we only spent $150 Billion on enforcing the drug laws. If we focused on the treatment and rehabilitation of drug abusers, I feel a substantial portion of the trillion dollars could be used for other things. The economic benefit could possibly be unmeasurable. Works Cited Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS) . (n.d.). Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS) . Discussion Case: Mountain Bank

At first glance, one would wonder why Mountain bank currently has fifty percent of Retail accounts within the market which are the less profitable accounts in the banking industry. Secondly one would also ask or wonder why Mountain Bank has less than 10 percent of the most profitable accounts in the market, corporate accounts. To achieve a competitive advantage Mountain Bank should implement the cost leadership strategy and the differentiation strategy. Currently Mountain Bank has a strong presence in the Retail Banking line which has proven to be the least profitable line in the industry. Their goal short term goal need to be to own a stronger presence within the more stable and profitable lines, Real Estate and Mortgage and Corporate banking. With the recent mergers and acquisitions, Mountain Bank may have the opportunity to expand and develop efficient methods that will enable them to sell its products and services at a lower price than its competitors. The decrease in the cost of its products and services will attract new customers and retain existing customers. By lowering the interest rates and cost of its products and services to a rate that smaller banks would not be able to compete with, Mountain Bank will gain the leadership of cost within the industry. The success of weeding out the competition will allow Mountain Bank to achieve its goal of obtaining a stronger presence of the most stable and profitable lines within the industry, Real Estate and Mortgage and Corporate accounts. Currently Mountain Bank provides the same four lines of banking (retail, consumer lending, real estate and mortgage and corporate banking), products and services as other banks in the industry. Differentiating its brand would allow Mountain Bank to gain a competitive advantage above its competitors. Mountain Bank would need to offer to its customer’s different and unique products and services that are not offered by its competition. This plan should restrict competitors from entering their market, or make it difficult for them to compete with them head on. The differentiation strategy may include implementing mergers with some larger corporations to obtain exclusive contract to do business with that business. The contract could encompass corporate accounts where Mountain Bank would be the sole provider of the company’s accounts for some of their benefits packages. Based on the universalistic approach and commitment strategy, what types of practices should a human resource professional recommend for Mountain Bank with respect to its tellers? The tellers are the key to the success at Mountain Bank. It is important that Mountain Bank’s human resource team focus on empowering the workers and build a stronger sense of loyalty and commitment within the tellers. Because the tellers are expected to complete some of the task as customer service it is imperative that hr encompass extensive recruiting and training within their hiring process. The tellers should have more involvement with the communication with management. Tellers should be encouraged to make suggestions about their daily responsibilities, customer service, daily goals, quotas, sales projections etc. Training programs should readily be available for those who show that they are able to handle more responsibilities. Of course compensation and appraisal systems should be measured and rewarded to those who use the training effectively on the job. These practices would foster a strong sense of cooperation between management and the tellers. Discuss the four human resource strategies (internal/cost, external cost, internal/differentiation and external/differentiation) that may be implemented within an organization. The Internal/Cost strategy combines the theories of the cost leadership strategy and emphasize on employing individuals with a long term goal of employment with the focus of reducing cost. The employer focuses on satisfying the needs of the employees while the employees work complete their various task in a manner in which to reduce cost for the employer. This is a win-win situation in which employees and employer are both satisfied. Employee satisfaction in turn reduces the likelihood of employee turnover. Mountain Bank would need to implement this strategy to ensure that not only its employees but its frontline employees, the tellers, are satisfied with their job. If they are satisfied then they have a higher chance of building a stronger bond becoming loyal longtime employees which reduces the cost to Mountain Bank in the long run. The Internal Differentiation strategy focuses on hiring and retaining long term employees that specialize in performing certain task with a combination of differentiation. This strategy emphasizes the importance of the employees. It values the employees and provides training to enhance their career within the company. This strategy compensates the employees with high wages/salaries and good benefits packages for their hard work and dedication for the company. These employees are known as the experts within the field. The External Cost strategy also known as the bargain labor strategy focuses on hiring employees with a short term goal while reducing the cost. This strategy unlike the previous two would not offer many perks to its employees. This strategy does not offer room for advancement within the company, and they do not offer training to empower employees to advance their careers. The pay rate for employees within this strategy is usually hourly wages. Employees are thought of as being easily replaced because they are not valued as much compared to the previous two strategies. This is a strategy that should not have top priority for Mountain Bank to implement. External/Differentiation strategy also focuses on hiring employees with a short term goal of employment combined with the differentiation strategy. These employees have critical skills but do not intend to remain loyal long term employees. Little to no training is provided because they are hired based on the skill set and experience they have to perform and complete a certain job/task. Employees who encourage this strategy have no long term commitments for the employees hired. The only portion of this strategy that Mountain Bank should implement is to hire employees that acquire necessary skill sets and experience to perform the job needed. Recommend a human resource strategy for Mountain Bank with respect to its tellers and support the recommendation. The case states that â€Å"bank tellers are crucial to the success of the Mountain bank because they are often times the only person that a customer may come in contact with while visiting the bank. † (Stewart 2008) The bank tellers at Mountain Bank are entry level employees and they receive a low pay. Within their daily responsibilities they are expected to cross sell and convince customers with retail accounts to open corporate accounts or obtain a mortgage from Mountain Bank. In a since, the tellers are also acting as sales reps for Mountain Bank and are not being compensated for the success if a sale is accomplished. It is stated that the employee turnover at Mountain Bank is quite high which means that the employees have a shorter average tenure than those of other companies in the same industry. Because employee turnover at Mountain Bank is quite high they should consider adopting the Internal/Cost HR Strategy: The Loyal Soldier. This strategy emphasizes hiring and retaining loyal employees who will do whatever the company asks of them. The efforts are made to satisfy the needs of employees and build a strong bond that reduces the likelihood of employee turnover. † (Stewart 2008) HR would be responsible for recruiting candidates and hiring employees (tellers) who fit th e organizational culture. Because the bank tellers complete several task, it is safe to assume that Mountain Bank expects them to do whatever the company asks of them like cross sell to existing customers to increase profits. HR will also be responsible for providing tellers with extensive training in a number of different skills. These skills will be related to the teller daily duties/responsibilities i. e. handle a wide range of banking transactions, such as cashing checks, accepting deposits and loan payments, and processing withdrawals. The tellers should also receive extensive training on customer service and sales representative skills as well because they are expected to cross sell and onvince customers with retail accounts to open corporate accounts or obtain a mortgage from Mountain Bank. The sales training crucial to the tellers because it will ensure (1) that they have accurate product knowledge, (2) they are familiar with the company’s sales procedures and (3) they know how to accurately fill out paperwork regarding the successful sale of the product. This process will help improve sales performance in the corporate accounts which are the most profitable accounts within the Mountain. Alongside finding the â€Å"right† employee, the loyal soldier strategy focuses on long term incentives and benefits for its employees. Because the tellers are paid a low wage they should be offered full time employment after a probation period. They should also be offered a benefits package which should include medical dental and the option to purchase stocks within the company. Performance appraisals/evaluations should determine the level of pay increase. This process will result in a great since of pride for the tellers and a strong bond between the employees and Mountain Bank.
